About Us

Jaspal Dhani graduated in information systems 1992 and planned a career as a computer programmer. During the twelve months following his graduation, Jaspal attended a number of job interviews where he was always confronted by interviewers who had little understanding of disability equality. “After the normal formalities had taken place, the interview panel would inevitable ask what as ‘wrong with me’, why I use a wheelchair and how my impairment would effect my work commitment”, recalls Jaspal who experienced such discriminatory practice on a regular basis. This experience led Jaspal to pursue a career within the disability field. “I wanted to use my personal experience to promote greater inclusion of disabled people in our community and embarked on a career within the disability movement” says Jaspal.

Jaspal has over 10 years experience of working at senior management within the disability sector and has been responsible for influencing change in policies and service provision to combat disability discrimination within various Local Government services, voluntary and private sector. Jaspal has also worked internationally on inclusion and empowerment projects.

“Teaching from life not books” is a philosophy which Jaspal has used to bring about positive change in organisations and their employees.

Equality Link Consultancy (ELC), setup by Jaspal, specialises in disability equality and general diversity in the work place. ELC provides bespoke training, consultancy and auxiliary services, such as British Sign Language interpreters, to ensure that service providers not only meet their legislative requirements but go beyond this by realising the wider business benefits of promoting and embracing disability equality in the work place and in service delivery.
